Theta Gamma Sigma Chapter

On December 1, 1995, six sophisticated ladies chartered Theta Gamma Sigma Capital District Alumnae Chapter (TGS) in Albany, New York. Sorors Areatha Fryar, Valerie Mallard, Nichole Michaels, Anilsa Nuñez, Samantha Sampson and Claudia Wint, also known as Legacy Six, worked selflessly to build a foundation that has surpassed all exceptions and has excelled at promoting Sisterhood, Scholarship and Service.

Theta Gamma Sigma assisted in the chartering of an undergraduate chapter in the Capital District. In the Spring of 1996, with the help of TGS, five young ladies chartered Xi Omega Chapter at Union College in Schenectady, New York. Since being chartered, TGS has also played an active role in advising Lambda Omega undergraduate chapter at the University at Albany in Albany, New York.

As a direct result of Sigma's commitment to bringing in women of excellence into the organization, in the Spring of 1996 Jennifer Hallman was brought into the Sigma Circle, followed by Dawn Mason in the Summer of 1999 and Pauline Hooten and Celeste Raysor in the Spring of 2000. In the Summer of 2001, Karen McNeill (formerly Karen Acosta) and Patricia Reneau embraced the Sigma way of life as their own and finally, in the Spring of 2002, Joy D. Ewing was brought into the sisterhood.

Theta Gamma Sigma has had the pleasure of having many sorors transfer into the chapter and leave as they open new chapters in their lives away from the Capital District.
